Type Setting

So a re- strike needed to be done of an old poster that Hatch sell for retail. Instead of using ready made plates and printing them, as we have been doing so far, we got to set this one up from scratch. It took the best part of a day to set it up and then we printed it the following day, with a run of 250 posters. It was a purely type based poster, enabling us to learn even more about positioning, composition and the variety of typefaces themselves. It was really gratifying when we had done it right and as good as, if not better, than the original haha. And yes, the stool defo comes in handy for my short arse self.

Archive

Here is just a snipit of Hatch's impressive archive. There's another world of history upstairs, which we got to see today... The image in the penultimate picture, is that of none other than Tina Turner. The work that they have done and continue to do never ceases to amaze me.

New Mini

Promo for the new mini, 2 seater sports. Pretty slick.

Too Funny!

Laura's idea of Wallace and Gromit- Actually brought tears to my eyes. Check out the similarities...

Pets at Home

For being a dog lover, I think these cats are quite cute. They chill around the shop, love to be stroked and are just cool. Post worthy.

Exhibition

An exhibition put on by Julie, a printmaker who used to work at Hatch, showcasing her work along with current employees, Laura and Bethany. Really beautiful show, congrats!!

Browns Diner

Fat day has come round again.. So we went to this place which was on the list of '100 things to do in Nashville' and I can see why now. As u can see it looks like nowt from the front, more like a big shed, but inside was a world away. Famous for it's burgers and living up to expectations!

Flea Market

OMG this was A.mazing! So the flea market is on once a month and you can literally buy anything from here, from tortoise shells to barbie dolls. I bought both. But no, seriously, it's like an adventure in itself with a bunch of wierd and wonderful characters!

Postcards

Postcards for merchandise... We did about 600 of these?! They all have different dual colour ways, with the lighter colour for the background, darker in the foreground. They have all been cut down to size now, but we still need to print the back. Act surprised when you get one through the post.

Printing Happy

Got to get on the back press this week is a semi automatic, which means you don't have to crank through the prints my hand every time... We worked on some jobs for clients, one of them being a really big job, with over 800 prints and 3 different colours (the yellow one- first layer), so that means every poster needs to go through this press 3 times, you do the maths- took about 3 days to complete the job! It was worth it though, they look good- will publish pics after the client has received them... Beginning to feel like a pro ha!
